Benfica look to Greece for defensive help

DECEMBER 26/18

Benfica look to shore up the back line when the January transfer window opens and have turned their attention towards Olympiakos central defender Pape Cisse. Benfica have been over playing the pairing of Ruben Dias and Jardel this season and with the club still in the hunt for three trophies this season an additional defender would be a welcome addition to the club.

Benfica did acquire German Conti and Cristian Lema over the summer but both have not been overly impressive when given a chance and with Lema set to be sent away on loan, the Eagles seem to prefer Cisse as their third choice center back. Cisse has appeared in 14 games across all competitions this season scoring twice for his current side. Olympiakos are rumoured to want €10M to depart with the 23 year old Senegal born defender.
