With the Euro 2020 tournament now postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19, we continue with our series ranking Portugal's best options position by position as at this current time the Quinas preparation of the squad will be off the field. Portugal will hope that some of its younger players continue to get the experience they need and compete for a place on the squad going forward.
This is PSNLs Top 8 choices for forwards of the National team.
# 1 - Cristiano Ronaldo - Forward (Juventus) 35 years old
Bruno Fernandes is Portugal's most important player in the midfield and the run of play will more times then not go through him to get the Portugal attack going. The midfielder is slowly becoming one of Europe's best at his position.
# 2 - Bernardo Silva - Forward (Manchester City) 25 years old
Ruben Neves is another tough midfielder that Portugal has at its disposal and plays deeper in the midfield to assist the back four as needed. Neves has been a regular member of the squad since the end of World Cup 2018.
# 3 - Diogo Jota - Forward (Wolverhampton) 23 years old
William is a main stay in Portugal's midfield & one of the toughest players to get the ball off in the world. The Euro 2016 & Nations League 2019 winner is a rock.
# 4 - Joao Felix - Forward (Atletico Madrid) 20 years old
Joao Moutinho is one of the squads veterans and his calm leadership is a big influence on the younger members of the squad. Moutinho is in fine form and currently sits third all time in appearances for the Quinas.
# 5 - Andre Silva - Forward (E. Frankfurt) 24 years old
Pizzi continues to be one of the better if not best player in the Portuguese League and his offense off the bench from the middle of the field when required is an assest to the national side.
# 6 - Ricardo Horta - Forward (Braga) 25 years old
Renato Sanches has regained his confidence and form since moving to Lille this season, the 2016 Young Player of the Year and Euro 2016 winner has too much talent to be left off the squad if he continues to retain this form.
# 7 - Goncalo Paciencia - Forward (E. Frankfurt) 25 years old
Sergio Oliveira has been one of the better players in the Portuguese league over the last couple of months and has earned a chance to be considered for the squad. He is anther tough midfielder that wins ball possession regularly.
# 8 - Goncalo Guedes - Forward (Valencia) 23 years old
Danilo is one of Santos' favourites when healthy but has spent too much time injured this season and has seen players pass him on list with better seasons. A healthy season from Danilo should see him move back into a Top 5 spot option.
