Looking back at Week 17 in the Portuguese League

Week 17 saw Benfica increase their lead atop the Portuguese League after a 2-1 win over Feirense and FC Porto being upset on the road by Gil Vicente 3-1. Benfica now leads the Portuguese League by 5 points over Porto.

Braga scored a huge 2-1 victory on the road over Maritimo to close to within three points of second place and Sporting got back on track with their 2-0 win over Beira Mar to claim sole position of fourth place, five points back of Braga.

Pacos Ferreira finally moved out of the relegation zone with their 4-2 win over Uniao de Leiria and Olhanense moved into seventh place after their 3-2 win over the now last place Setubal. Guimaraes defeated Nacional 1-0 and Rio Ave and Academica played to a scoreless draw.
